Your tutor will make time for you to have a one to one interview in tutorial time for these three weeks.

Week 11  - Prevent & Extremism

Whilst one to ones are being carried out, we need you to understand more about the Prevent agenda.

All students need to understand what is meant by extremism, and the dangers of radicalisation.

Activity

1. What do you think 'extremism' means?

2. Now look at the powerpoint

Look at the pictures of people and try to spot who were extremists

Then look at the answers

What does this tell us about extremism?

3. Watch this Youtube clip of two mothers both affected by extremism

5. Discuss how you felt about this video as a group.

6. Radicalisation

  • Whether it's extremist animal rights campaigners, far right violent activists or young Muslims who want to do jihad, young people can be vulnerable to radicalisation.

  • Radicalisation  usually has an element of face to face and online persuasion and 'grooming'. Here are some facts about extemists:

  • ISIS

  • Far right extremists
